Hello, my name is Karen Stallsworth. I am curious if others have encountered the same issue. I e-filed my taxes with TurboTax in March 11, [redacted], and the IRS confirmed the acceptance of my State and federal taxes. Checking the IRS website's "Where's my refund" section today, June 10, [redacted], it still states that my refund is in process and to wait for a deposit date within 21 days. Would like more details other than the generic message. Attempts to call were unsuccessful. Any insights are greatly appreciated as I, like many others, am striving to remain patient. Despite being married, our returns are often withheld due to my spouse's back child support obligations. I am seeking guidance on how to potentially receive a portion of the return that rightfully belongs to my daughter and me, as I believe I should not be penalized for his financial liabilities. Considering the circumstances, would it be advisable for me to file as Married Filing Separately to access the portion of the return due to us? Additionally, I am inquiring whether changing my filing status to Married Filing Separately after the due date will affect the processing of my return. I've lived with someone for the last two tax seasons, and he has claimed me and my kids. I haven't worked since my son turned 7 months old; he's now 3 years old. Also, in the last two years, my daughter was born, and she just turned two. Along with my oldest child, Jadalynn, who is 6 years old, I am wondering about the stimulus checks we might receive as his dependents. I e-filed on March 11th and after waiting the full 21 days, I called the IRS. They informed me my return is under review for 10 weeks. After this period passed, I received a letter on May 17th stating it will take another 10 weeks. This delay is causing extreme hardship as I face homelessness with my car being repossessed and having to move out to regain custody of my children. Furthermore, my bank account has been closed, making direct deposit impossible. I have attempted to contact the IRS several times but have been unable to get through. My children are my priority, and I urgently need this refund to resolve my current crisis and reclaim my car. My life is on hold while I continue to wait.

I need to inform the IRS that I have been caring for my granddaughter for the past 6 years. Her father, Jacob Huff, who has had no involvement in her life, is set to receive the child tax credit payments starting on July 15. My details, Stephanie Roberts, are on file as I have received stimulus payments. However, his outdated tax information will result in him receiving the money for our granddaughter in July. I have been waiting for my income tax refund since February which was delayed because I forgot to send my [redacted] form initially. Once I submitted the form and faxed the necessary paperwork as requested, it was rejected by the IRS because the fax number provided was incorrect. I submitted my tax return electronically on May 15, [redacted], and it got accepted by the IRS on May 18, [redacted]. It's been over 21 days (1 month) since I filed, and when I check the "Where's My Refund" tool, it only says my return is "Still Being Processed." Every time I call the IRS, the automated system says it can't take my call and to try again later. I need to talk to a real person at the IRS to understand why my refund is taking over a month to process and when I can expect it. As of 5:21pm on 6-21-21, I haven't received a call back from the IRS yet. I am looking for an explanation about the delay in processing my return and an estimated timeline for when I will get my refund. I've always had my taxes prepared by volunteers without issues in the past.

When I filed my taxes, I expected to receive a refund of around $[redacted]. However, after processing, the IRS now says I owe $71 due to an error with the recovery rebate amount. I've contacted them multiple times, and initially, I was advised to amend my taxes to get the $[redacted] back. But after going through the amendment process and being told conflicting information, I haven't proceeded with it. I recently received letter 5071C, requesting me to verify my identity for my [redacted] tax refund. I filed my taxes a few months back. I had the option to verify online or over the phone, and I decided to try online first. Unfortunately, after providing all my personal details and my car loan account number, I received a message saying they couldn't verify my identity at that time. I then attempted to call the provided number in the letter, but no one has picked up the phone for two days straight. A recording instructs me to call back on the next business day. I've been trying since 9 am and have yet to speak with a live person. I am feeling extremely frustrated as I cannot receive my refund until my identity is verified.

I am seeking guidance on the procedure to prevent the non-custodial parent of my child from claiming my child as a dependent on their tax returns. Given that the child resides with me for 12 months each year and the non-custodial parent does not provide any support, I believe I should be able to claim the child as my dependent. Despite being the custodial parent, the other parent has consistently claimed the child, preventing me from doing so. I am aware of who is using the child's social security information, and I have tried contacting the IRS without success. Unfortunately, the phone lines are always busy, and attempts to schedule an appointment online have been fruitless. It is frustrating to see the non-custodial parent benefiting from child care credits and stimulus benefits that rightfully belong to me. I am very frustrated with the IRS. I sent my tax return in January but haven't heard back. When I called 1-[redacted] a month ago, I spoke to 6 rude representatives. The last person said I received my refund on January 6th, but that was actually my stimulus check, not my tax refund. I used TaxAct.com but had to mail my return due to missing information. I can't check the refund status online because TaxAct's suggested amount doesn't match. It's been tough finding help. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

I received my refund in April. I am monitoring my account using the TaxSlayer app, which I used to e-file. I submitted my taxes before the latest stimulus was passed and I anticipate an additional refund due to the unemployment tax break. After logging into the TaxSlayer app recently and reviewing my paperwork, I noticed changes to my federal tax documents. I called TaxSlayer to inquire about these changes, and they explained that the app is self-guided, with no live agent altering my federal income tax forms. I am unsure if the IRS made these changes. If they did, I would like to know if they reflect the additional refund I am expecting from the unemployment tax refund.
