In July [redacted], I was made redundant from my job in the power industry where I taught at power stations for a large company. Unfortunately, this company closed its training business, preventing me from delivering training to any power stations they owned or operated for one year due to UK tax rules and my redundancy pay. I decided to establish my own limited company to continue providing training services to power stations, but the company that made me redundant stated that I would still be restricted from training at their power stations. Despite arguing that it would be my company providing the training services and employing me to deliver them, they maintained that I, as an ex-employee, would effectively be returning to work for them. I sought clarification on their decision.

Dear Sir/Madam, I permanently left the UK in [redacted] and currently only have a small monthly pension of about Ł[redacted].00, with no plans to return to work in the UK. I would like to close my HMRC account as I do not have access to my English phone for online verification purposes, preventing me from receiving the access code. I have made attempts to contact HMRC from outside the UK without success. I have always been diligent with my tax responsibilities and wish to handle this matter appropriately. I would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Kind regards, Zsuzsanna Kozma

I am writing because my wife and I have been unwell, and I have not been able to claim my VAT since 30/11/21. As a small farmer who is retiring soon, I wish to request a refund for the VAT from that date. I have kept my accounts current and am meeting with my accountants today. My VAT Number is GB [redacted] 29. My wife has had health issues, including three heart attacks and surgeries, and I am now her caregiver. We have recently moved from the farm, and we had no access to WIFI or a landline for nearly 6 months from last August to December, which caused some challenges. I am 79 years old and not as quick as I used to be. Currently, I am unable to access my VAT account because my code does not open the account. Thank you, Alan Wade.

I have reached out three times by phone and twice by letter in regards to the continuous mail I am receiving for Mr. E Gray at my address. Despite being informed to disregard the mail previously, I continue to receive it for someone who does not reside here. Mr. E Gray Cedarwood New Road Oreton Kidderminster DY140UH Kindly cease sending mail for this individual, as they may require it. It is possible that there has been confusion due to my son being part of 42 Commando while this individual appears to be affiliated with 45 Commando. Although previously mentioned, it appears to have been overlooked. My son at 42 Commando has confirmed his details with their accounts department during his communication. Thank you. I recently received a notice stating I owe £[redacted].04 in overdue taxes. I've been making monthly payments of £[redacted].00 since January through your portal system with Reference K [redacted]. It seems there might be an error as daily interest charges are being added. I'm concerned about a possible scam. My next payment is scheduled for April 1st – should I cancel it?

I recently received a P45 letter with accurate personal details, but it incorrectly states that my employment at Health Security Agency in Salisbury ends on March 31, [redacted]. I never worked there; my last job was at SSE, where I retired in December [redacted]. I am worried that my identity may have been compromised or that this is an honest mistake. I would appreciate clarification on this matter. Thank you, Robert L.

To whom it may concern, I hope this message finds you well. I have received a penalty for not submitting my self-assessment form. I spoke to a colleague who mentioned that as a full-time employee under a contract, I might not need to file a tax return. They suggested contacting you to cancel the fine. My employer mentioned I needed a UTR number, so I applied for one even though I am a permanent employee who pays taxes weekly as indicated on my payslips. I would be grateful for your help in canceling the penalty. Kind regards, Xhevahir Spahiu

Dear Newcastle, I would like to inform you that a formal complaint is being sent to you. The numerous errors made that go against taxpayer guidance have led to significant health issues for an elderly couple, including sleep disturbances, high blood pressure, stomach problems, and severe headaches. The distress caused is expected to continue for a while. The level of inefficiency and lack of knowledge and skill displayed by your department in this matter is truly astounding. We are requesting compensation of £[redacted] for the personal distress endured and the poor service received over a three-month period to be paid promptly. We require a detailed explanation for your actions along with a separate written apology to be sent to us before the end of this month (May [redacted]). Please rectify these clear mistakes immediately and provide notifications confirming the corrections made, to reach us before the end of this month (May [redacted]). Thank you.

I have received an email concerning a query I have about charging VAT on repairs and damages that are not beyond economical repair. We typically charge VAT on all damage or repairs to machines, such as a hose or a pane of glass, regardless of their extent. When a machine is damaged beyond economical repair and goes through the customer's insurance, we do not charge VAT in such cases. However, I received information stating that compensation for damaged goods falls outside the scope of VAT. Could you please confirm whether we should be charging VAT on repairs for damage that is not considered beyond economical repair?

I recently received an email regarding a damaged invoice. The email's request is to rescind the VAT on the damage invoice to enable payment since damaged invoices are not subject to VAT. The guidance provided explains that compensation for damaged goods, such as when goods are lost or destroyed while out of the owner's custody, falls outside the scope of VAT. In our case, as we hire out plant machinery which may break down or get damaged by operators, we usually charge VAT on repairs, like fixing a hose or a pane of glass. I'm seeking clarification on whether we should apply VAT on repairs or damages that are not beyond economical repair, as we typically do not charge VAT on irreparable damage where the customer's insurance covers the cost.

Hello, I am looking for assistance with my self-assessment amount that has been pending since February. The manager mentioned that I would receive it today, but it has not happened. I've now been informed that the self-assessment lines are closed until September. I am frustrated with the delays and lack of progress. Please address this issue promptly. The ongoing poor customer service is unacceptable. I am seeking resolution and expect better communication. Thank you.

I recently retired at the end of May and I'm concerned about my taxes. With my pension now at £23,[redacted] instead of my previous salary of £40,[redacted], I need to make sure I have the correct tax code. I want to update you that I no longer need the allowance I used to receive for subscriptions and work clothes. Unfortunately, I don't have a passport or photo ID driving license, and the credit check questions online seem to be causing issues, preventing me from verifying my identity. It's frustrating that your phone lines are not responsive. I've already spent an hour and a lot of money waiting on hold today, and I don't wish to do it again. Could someone assist me? It's challenging when there's no address provided for written correspondence. The process feels unnecessarily complicated.

Hello, I am an international investor in crypto assets. Recently, I paid approximately $40,[redacted] for taxes, declaration of crypto assets, and fund assurance to receive my investment. I was informed this is standard procedure in the UK for the crypto market. Despite making the payment, I have yet to receive my funds after a month. I need clarity on the tax process to address my concerns with the company. I reside in Canada and understand the obligation to declare capital gains here. The company claims the payment I made covers my obligations. They are withholding my funds unless I pay for an asset exchange and a third party bank commission. Each time I am due to receive my funds, they cite unpaid taxes or declarations for the new asset valuation, leading to increasing fees. I seek clarification on UK laws regarding this issue. Thank you, Christine.

Hello, I recently received an email from Salvatore Marini, Founder & Senior Attorney at JOHNSON & FISCHER SOLICITORS UK regarding Disputes and Investigators. They claim to operate on behalf of HMRC, and HMRC has supposedly confirmed this. However, I am unable to access the HMRC website as I am not a resident. I am concerned about my tax payment request and would like to verify my position. Despite multiple attempts to contact them by phone, I have had no luck.

Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Mr. Upal Ahmed, NI no: SL 798918C, and I am writing regarding my self-assessment tax calculation for the tax year [redacted]-22, totaling £[redacted].84. I am reaching out for assistance due to unexpected financial challenges I am facing. I am struggling to meet the full payment of £[redacted].84 at once due to these challenges. This financial strain has affected both my well-being and that of my family. I kindly request your understanding and ask if an instalment plan could be arranged to help me manage this tax amount over time. This would greatly ease the current financial burden I am under and provide the necessary relief to stabilize my family's situation. I appreciate your consideration of my situation and any assistance you can provide. Thank you for your time and understanding. I am prepared to provide any required documentation to support my case. Best regards, Upal Ahmed

I recently received a message from the HMRC app stating that I am owed money for the period 6/4/19-5/4/[redacted]; however, the cheque is being issued to dsk accounts ltd., a company I am unfamiliar with. Despite never having interacted with this company, I have thoroughly checked my records. After attempting to contact them by phone and sending five emails, I have received no response. Some online reviews suggest dsk accounts ltd. may be fraudulent, potentially signing documents on behalf of individuals. I am worried about the legitimacy of the situation and the possibility of my money going to this unknown entity. Can anyone offer assistance or guidance on what steps I should take? Thank you.
